Fenris the surface grinder
So after months of planing and fabrication we have now finished Fenris the surface grinder.
there is still some fine tuning required but he eats metal like the beast.

today we succeed in casting rubber around an aluminium wheel for our new project the surface grinder
Day 1 of experiment
So today is the the start of iron wolf engineering experimenting in trying to make bloomery steel. So far we have made the bloomers furnace out of clay and we have fired it in preparation for the burn tomorrow

Forge table improvements
Today while thermal cycling the guard I made last week, I need to make some improvements to the forge table by adding a handle rest as I was using a set of fold up ladders with a couple of house bricks to prop up the knife/Damascus handles . Here is the result .
Penny scrolls
After weeks of making pattern welded steel (Damascus) it was time to start a project that requires me to make a guard with penny scrolls. So after a couple of afternoons, here’s what I have achieved. The one on the wood is the final piece and still hot

While I was welding our next billets for a broken back saex I had time to knock up a spoon for fluxing out of rebar
Damascus Chain knife prototype
This week we have been working on a Damascus Chain knife prototype. Over the last 3 weekends we have forged welded a piece of the chain into a knife billet, ground out the blade shape and attached a handle made from the same chain. This week we have ground the bevels ready for heat treat and temper next weekend.
